banti born in montebichieri in tuscany. father physician. studied medicine @ university of pisa , later medical school in florence graduated in 1877. appointed assistant’s position @ local hospital of santa maria nuova , concurrently, assistant @ laboratory of pathological anatomy. ability observe patients in bed , carry out post mortem examination prove fundamental in parts of work.
working under guidance of celso pellizzari 1882 chief of medical services. in 1895, after 5-year spell in temporary post, appointed ordinary professor of pathological anatomy in medical school in florence. remained in post 29 years until retirement , death year later in 1925.
