the king s chamber.

the royal apartments located on first floor of north wing. apartments furnished frederick ii around 1576, after fire in 1629, christian iv had apartments refurnished , richly decorated ceiling paintings, stone portals , chimneypieces. original floors tiled in black , white replaced wooden floorboards in 1760-61, , walls clad in gilt-leather. today chambers furnished netherlandish furniture 17th century.
the king s chamber has bay window, located right above castle s main portal, king keep eye on guests arriving @ castle, whereas queen s chamber has access vaulted tower chamber overlooking flag bastion.

measuring 62 x 12 metres, ballroom largest hall in northern europe when completed in 1582. walls hung series of large paintings made 1618 1631 great hall of rosenborg castle in copenhagen. paintings in ballroom include:
the present floor , fireplaces rebuilding in 1924-38.
little hall
the little hall 3 of 7 tapestries.
the walls of little hall furnished 7 tapestries series of forty tapestries portraying 1 hundred danish kings. masterpieces include tapestry depicting oluf (1376-1387) , tapestry depicting knud vi (1182-1202). tapestries commissioned frederick ii around 1580. 7 more tapestries @ national museum of denmark, while rest have been lost.

the chapel located in ground floor of south wing , inaugurated in 1582. in 1785, castle being fitted use army barracks, chapel fitted out gymnasium , fencing hall , furniture stored away. chapel refurnished original furniture in 1838 , reinaugurated in 1843.
