state route 228 short bypass west of brawley. road defined california state legislature in 1964 state highway renumbering have begun @ sr 86 2.5 miles (4.0 km) southwest of brawley , ended 2 miles (3.2 km) west of brawley. however, included in 1935 definition of route 26, continued north los angeles , south calexico, along approximate route of 99. route deleted in 1998; time, no highway had been constructed along route.
