rules
preliminaries

one standard pack of 52 cards , 2, 3 or 4 players take turns being dealer. object of game points based on winning cards.


deal

four cards face-down each player , 4 face-up form “pool” in middle of table. if 1 of cards in pool jack, gets cut deck , replaced new card, , if jack or if there multiple jacks in pool, dealer reshuffles , deals again.


play

beginning @ dealer’s left, players take turns playing cards table until there no cards left in hands. dealer deals 4 more cards each player (but not pool) , play continues until deck exhausted. play consists of playing 1 card in 1 of 2 ways:



1. either adding pool of face-up cards
2. or using card pick 1 or more cards in pool.

a player may not add card pool if card capable of picking 1 or more cards in pool. player must pick cards or play different card.


picking cards

cards may picked follows.



1. number cards (including aces, assigned numerical value of one) pick 1 or more other cards combine form sum of eleven.

example: pool contains ace, 2, 2, 4 , 10 in varying suits. player needs play 10 pick ace, 9 pick either 1 of both twos, 8 pick ace , 1 of 2’s, 7 pick 4 or both of 2’s, 6 pick ace , either 4 or both 2’s, 5 pick 4 , 1 of 2’s, 4 pick 4, 2 , ace, 3 pick 4 , both 2’s, 2 pick 4, both 2’s , ace, or ace pick 10. other cards remain in pool.


2. king picks 1 king, queen picks 1 queen.
3. jack picks jacks , number cards on table, not kings , queens.
4. when player has single card left in last hand of deck, remaining cards in pool picked when player able match: a) king-king b) queen-queen c) combine form sum of 11. (basically, on last hand of deck, whoever picks last card gets pick remaining unmatched cards table).

surs

a sur (or soor) occurs when player clears remaining cards pool. there 2 exceptions:



1. when jack used pick remaining cards pool, not scored sur.
2. sur may not scored in last round of play.

players keep track of surs turning card face in winnings pile.


note: not possible sur occur when pips on cards in pool total more ten. impossible score sur when there multiple face cards or mix of number cards , face cards in pool.


scoring

players keep cards pick face-down in pile in front of them. object of game collect points, tallied each player once deck has been exhausted. scoring varies place place, follows:



most clubs: 7 points (some play 13 points; play person clubs gets 1 point per club maximum of 7 points)
10 of diamonds: 3 points
2 of clubs: 2 points
each ace: 1 point
each jack: 1 point
each sur: 5 points (some play each sur 10 points)

thus there total of 20 available points each round (or 26 if playing 13 points clubs), plus number of 5- point (or 10-point) bonuses each sur (see below) occurs. if 3 or 4 people playing , there tie clubs, nobody scores clubs , base point total 13 instead of 20.


ending game

once deck has been exhausted , points have been tallied, deal passes left , pack dealt out anew. game continues until someone’s score 62 or more points. if players tied, play continues until tie broken.
