in islamic tradition, solomon venerated prophet , messenger of god, divinely appointed monarch, ruled on kingdom of israel. in judaism, islam recognizes solomon son of king david, considered prophet , king but, refuses claim solomon turned idolatry. 1 of enslaved jinn escaped enslavment, instead, , took on kingdom , pose solomon, while others thought indeed become ruthless king.

the qur’an ascribes solomon great level of wisdom, knowledge , power. knew mantiq al-tayr (arabic: مـنـطـق الـطـيـر‎, language of birds). solomon known in islam have other supernatural abilities bestowed upon him allah, after special request solomon himself, such controlling wind, ruling on jinn, including demons, , hearing of distant speeches ants:



, solomon (we made) wind (obedient): morning (stride) month s (journey), , evening (stride) month s (journey); , made font of molten brass flow him; , there jinns worked in front of him, leave of lord, , if of them turned aside our command, made him taste of penalty of blazing fire. (34: 12) , @ length, when came (lowly) valley of ants, 1 of ants said: o ye ants, habitations, lest solomon , hosts crush (under foot) without knowing it. – smiled, amused @ speech; , said: o rabb (arabic: رَبّ‎, lord)! order me may grateful thy favors, thou hast bestowed on me , on parents, , may work righteousness please thee: , admit me, thy grace, ranks of thy righteous servants. (27: 18–19)



the qur’an mentions solomon 17 times, , islamic tradition attributes solomon saying: ra s al-hikmah makhafat allah (arabic: رأس الـحـكـمـة مـخـافـة الله‎, beginning of wisdom fear of god ).
