the institute of arab research , studies (iars) (arabic: معهد البحوث والدراســات العـربيــة‎) cairo-based research institute administered alecso. established institution of arab league resolution of council of arab league on 23 september 1952, iars started work on 1 november 1953. following creation of alecso in 1970, iars brought under alecso s administrative control resolution of secretary-general dated 10 september 1970. iars admitted membership of federation of arab universities in 1994.
