the queue area

upon entering queue, guests put 4 different lines underneath large canopy. throughout area props different movies, including pearl harbor, pirates of caribbean: curse of black pearl, , rock. film looped director michael bay telling guests how of special effects scenes pearl harbor filmed. while guests waiting, 4 volunteers chosen used in first part of attraction.


walking tour

a number of guests in each line taken show area large water tank in front of them. in water tank props reminiscent of pearl harbor: deck , engine room of patrol boat. cast members explained how water tank , props used in filming scenes action films. using volunteers before guests shown special effects demonstration, known harbor attack. 1 volunteer sat in engine room , overcame deluge of water (1000 gallons of water) coming room through window 2 dump tanks. other 3 volunteers standing on deck when attack happened. explosions underwater, simulated torpedo bursts, , fireballs used simulate attack. when filming finished footage put recorded footage of airplane attacks , dialogue , shown guests.


when demonstration finished, guests continued large prop warehouse. line moved guests , down aisles of props used in different major productions, including marvin s room, santa clause, honey, shrunk kids, honey, blew kid, framed roger rabbit, rocketeer , chronicles of narnia: lion, witch , wardrobe, great muppet caper, , george of jungle. several of props tagged information. @ exit of building tram part of tour began.

as guests exited prop building boarded onto tram main part of tour. driver brought tram through different areas, prerecorded narration explained found there , tells guests facts it. guests first traveled past earffel tower, former icon of park. tram ride closest guests tower in park. after tower tram drove through costume , materials building, had thru-way tram , windows guests see costumes , people working. highlight in building room full of tires used lights, motors, action! extreme stunt show.


when tram left building bring guests through outside area named boneyard (named after aircraft boneyard). in boneyard vehicles featured in many films seen. props included genuine steamroller used judge doom during climax of framed roger rabbit, ships original star wars films, duo motorcycles indiana jones , last crusade, escape pod hitchhiker s guide galaxy, cars used in herbie love bug films (the ex-parade vehicle herbie taken away all-star movies resort [on account of children kept climbing on it] , on display on tour), bone cages pirates of caribbean: dead man s chest, spaceship flight of navigator , boats , other vehicles used in other disney-produced films.


after leaving boneyard, guests told entering live movie set while cast on break. tram move area known catastrophe canyon, rocky area fuel truck , water tanks inside of it. while tram stopped, filming starts suddenly. earthquake shakes tram , causes fuel truck explode, sending fire ball air. flood of water comes rushing down canyon , above tram. when earthquake subsides , water stops, set begin reset next tram , host on tram tells guests how done tram travels behind set show of production.


after exiting canyon tram traveled through parts of boneyard again. guests go past lights, motors, action! extreme stunt show stadium , practice areas. tram passed walt disney s private airplane. after passing plane, tram pulls in exit , unloaded afi showcase room.


post-ride

in order leave attraction, guests had walk through american film institute museum exhibit based on afi s 50 greatest villains. many of villains on list represented life-sized figures in display cases, drawings , pictures of them films. entire list presented pictures of of villains on wall in building. while guests on backlot tour had go through exhibit exit, not necessary go on tour see exhibit, possible enter through exit. exhibit , store closed in august 2014, month prior attraction s closure.
