the original engine shed shortly after return corris railway in 1980s, , before passenger services had resumed.


the site merely meeting place of 2 lines until 1878. in year corris railway company identified maespoeth site new engine shed, planned part of introduction of steam engines, commenced operating later year.


constructed in vee of 2 lines, new shed held railway s 3 steam locomotives , equipped handle heaviest repairs locomotives , rolling stock. north of engine shed small stream. @ unknown date section of stream lined slate , wood-framed dunny or latrine built on provide toilet facilities constant running water. although remains in situ no longer used railway staff.


in 1920s arrival of fourth locomotive exceeded capacity of engine shed, , small wooden building built against south wall of engine shed , used store 1 of railway s original 3 locomotives. building later used store carriages under repair. disappeared in 1930s.


a smaller stone building later constructed south of engine shed, , used stable , store signals & telegraph (s&t) department. wooden signal cabin stone chimney built protect lever frame controlling points , signals @ south end of site.


much of engineering machinery removed after line became part of great western railway in 1930, engine shed , associated structures survived closure of railway in 1948 , subsequently served winter working base forestry commission.
