the detour on leg choice between hang heads or hammer of cods. in hang heads, teams had string 6 bundles of ten fish heads each. must take them, wheelbarrow, fish drying rack , place them on marked rod. once finished, fish foreman give them next clue. in hammer of cods, teams had collect 15 pairs of cod 30 feet (9.1 m) high fish drying rack , transport them manufacturing area (tørrfiskloft) smash cod fish jerky, making sure remove bones. once had 1 kilogram (2.2 lb) of fish jerky, receive next clue.
in leg s roadblock, 1 team member had put on wetsuit , jump off henningsvær bridge , swing on end of 80 feet (24 m) rope. when ready, must unclip , splash down arctic ocean , swim buoy held next clue. swim partner waiting in rib take team shore.

after roadblock, teams went rock quarry had hitch granite boulder on sled provided ford ranger. had pull sled far enough reveal next clue , satchel of viking coins need later in race.
