born in little falls, minnesota, meyers fifteenth of 16 children. mother pianist; father morrison county treasurer. meyers became multi-instrumental musician, drums first instrument.


his family moved oregon. in teens, meyers played drums professionally @ seaside, oregon hotel. @ age 21 put 10-piece band. in 1919 meyers given 2-year contract lead house band @ rose room in seattle’s hotel butler. band enjoyed local success, , butler s contract continued renewed. in 1923 brunswick records chose group record during record company s west coast field trip, first records billed vic meyers hotel butler orchestra . band made further series of recordings brunswick following year, , toured nationally before settling in seattle, played on radio. in 1927 band first got residency @ trianon ballroom in belltown/denny regrade area north of downtown seattle s leading dance venue of time, known flouting of prohibition.; same year band made first of series of recordings columbia records continue through 1929.
