these relations date 250 years , started in field of trade in 18th century. on 14 october 1756, agreement of friendship , trade signed sultan osman iii , king frederick v. in 1758, denmark has appointed extraordinary representative ottoman empire.


thirty years war

from 1618 1648, denmark , ottoman empire fought against holy roman empire allies, 1618 1629. in 1643, denmark aligned catholic powers against ottoman empire , sweden.


great northern war

in great northern war, denmark , ottoman empire @ war against each other.


french revolutionary wars

in war of second coalition, denmark , ottoman empire @ war against each other.


napoleonic wars

both denmark, france , ottoman empire allies during napoleonic wars 1803 1815, against united kingdom, austria, russia , sweden.


20th century

during turkish–armenian war in 1920, denmark acted mediator in war between armenia , turkey. commercial agreement signed in ankara (angora) in 1926. treaty of establishment, commerce , navigation signed between denmark , turkey in 1930. in 1932, both countries signed conciliation treaty in geneva, switzerland. in 1948, payment agreement signed.


on 26 november 1999, joint action plan cooperation in politics, security , defense signed when turkish foreign minister ismail cem visited denmark.
