in 2008 university shortlisted times higher education university of year award. in 2009 , 2010 shortlisted times higher education entrepreneurial university of year award. in 2010, tim wilson announced intention retire vice-chancellor after more 19 years @ university.


in 2011, quintin mckellar replaced tim wilson vice-chancellor of university. on same year, hatfield beacon restored , repositioned @ new law school site. meanwhile, in following year, kaspar project received £180,000 donation international grant making foundation, used further university s research use of robotics support social development of children autism.


in 2015, hertfordshire has adopted policy of naming buildings after people or organisations significant local or regional impact. these include kate bellingham, british engineer , television presenter , alistair spalding, chief executive , artistic director of sadler s wells theatre. of halls being named after influential alumni university feels represent attributes of hertfordshire graduates. in these 2 cases, halls named in recognition of bellingham , spalding s attributes of, intellectual depth , adaptability , professionalism, employability , enterprise. on same year, university of hertfordshire has been announced 1 of first recipients of race equality charter initiative recognises excellence in advancing racial equality in higher education. charter launched equality challenge unit @ start of 2015 academic year. other recipients were: de montfort university, king s college london, kingston university, staffordshire university, university college london, university of manchester , royal holloway, university of london.
