the house consists of long rectangle divided cross passage. west end large hall 25 feet (7.6 m) high. east end consists of smaller rooms on 2 floors. roof structure substantial, of paired cruck beams additional horizontal, vertical , diagonal bracing. 1 unusual feature truss between cross-passage , hall aisle truss, form found in larger buildings such barns , churches. suggests use of english craftsmen , indication of status of original inhabitants.
