she built liverpool–new york route. launched in 1931, and, after fitting out sailed maiden voyage on 25 june 1932. in 1933, replaced aging rms olympic on southampton–new york route brief time while vessel overhauled.


her design similar of britannic, sleek profile , 2 squat smokestacks. constructed diesel power plant coupled electric motors drove propellers. recorded top speed of 19 knots on speed trials. @ 711 ft long (217 m) , 27,759 gross tons not largest liner of time, considered stylish , favourite among passengers. georgic helped keep white star line going during great depression.
