training , career (2006–2008)
griffiths began training professional wrestler in 2006 after attending wrestling show friend promoter recommended start wrestling. trained @ professional wrestling school in birkenhead. prior appearing on gladiators, griffiths had wrestled under names celtic warrior , smackdown warrior since 2007, , had competed in 100 matches in countries including egypt , venezuela. represented uk in battle of nations tag team match between uk , austria, teaming drew mcdonald , sheamus o shaunessy in losing effort chris raaber, michael kovac, , robert ray kreuzer @ european wrestling association s night of gladiators show in june 2007. after signing world wrestling entertainment (wwe), griffiths had final show in wales in october 2008 in porthmadog, when won singles match , battle royal.

florida championship wrestling (2009–2011)
in mid-2009, griffiths signed five-year contract wwe. when received work visa, debuted in developmental territory, florida championship wrestling (fcw) in january 2010. under name mason ryan, competed against wrestlers including johnny curtis, tyler reks, johnny prime, , hunico in first matches.

independent circuit (2014–present)
after release wwe, griffiths began wrestling on independent circuit, still using wwe name. first appearance american pro wrestling alliance promotion, became new apwa tri state champion on 31 may. mason made debut wrestlesport promotion on 16 august defeated adam pearce become first wrestlesport heavyweight champion. on 5 september, @ full impact pro s fallout, ryan along michael tarver , shaun ricker participated in trios tournament, defeated full impact puerto ricans (lince dorado, jay cruz, , jay rios).
on 11 october 2014, ryan won upwa heavyweight championship in shallotte, north carolina.

on 20 february 2015, griffiths, working under ring name mason williams, made debut japanese inoki genome federation (igf) promotion, losing shogun okamoto. on 5 june 2015, ryan defeated then-full impact pro heavyweight champion, rich swann.
