on 28 june 2016, israel basketball association (iba) informed hapoel jerusalem, signed contract participate in eurocup, not allowed register , play in israeli basketball premier league. in response, maccabi tel aviv, 1 of teams a-license play in euroleague, announced that, in case, refuse register premier league. ultimately, iba did not apply sanction.
italy
on 22 april 2016, 3 italian teams signed contract euroleague (reggio emilia, dinamo sassari , aquila basket trento) announced withdraw eurocup. after several threats fiba, withdrew competition, , instead joined fiba competition, basketball champions league.
russia
on 27 june 2016, after participants of 2016–17 euroleague , eurocup basketball revealed, andrei kirilenko, president of russian basketball federation, announced 4 russian participants in eurocup (khimki, lokomotiv kuban, nizhny novgorod, , zenit saint petersburg) disqualified national domestic competitions (like russian cup), , players banned playing russian national team. not affect participation in vtb united league, not organised russian federation.

on 2 august 2016, jorge garbajosa, elected president of spanish basketball federation, sent letter 6 spanish clubs registered in eurocup (bilbao, fuenlabrada, gran canaria, málaga, murcia, , valencia), accusing them of violating rules of spain s supreme council of sports. organisation of spanish government had cancelled acb-euroleague agreement.

the hellenic basketball federation threatened ban aek athens greek basket league, if did not switch eurocup fiba s basketball champions league. hellenic basketball federation stated sent letter fiba, demanded make such threats. after aek refused switch champions league, hellenic basketball federation refused grant greek league player licenses (meaning not play in greek league) of aek s new summer signings, if remained in eurocup. result of this, aek had no other choice withdraw eurocup , switch champions league.
