the famine relieved, floods hit ghana, niger, nigeria , benin in october 2010. cotonou’s residents in benin had board canoes, on 9th due severe flooding. according un, 680,000 people homeless while more 300,000 acres of crops had been destroyed , 81,000 livestock killed. flooding began in mid-september when heavy rains caused niger river in benin s north overflow , break banks. rainfall continued across country.

heavy rains caused collapse of damaged dam in ghana , displaced more 700,000 people.
