in 2002 putco initiated building of special access buses disabled passengers. these vehicles designed after consultation organizations disabled in putco s bus body building operation in brits. utilize special loading platform.
during trip wheelchairs secured load binders floor structure. seat belts , additional wheelchair storage area provided. there coded hand-rails , bell-pushes partially sighted.
at present 6 access buses being operated, 3 in pretoria area , others in johannesburg area. these buses have specially trained crews, 2 per bus, assist passengers.
