remnants of c.k.g. billings estate fort tryon cottage – located near main entrance @ margaret corbin circle, @ intersection of cabrini boulevard , fort washington avenue – gatehouse, , partially paved-over red-brick pathways near entrance , continuing down through massively arched structure known billings arcade. driveway, continues down riverside drive, northbound side of henry hudson parkway. billings arcade features series of 50-foot tall arches constructed of maine granite.


during years before world war i, park lent name neighborhood south. area between broadway , hudson river, far south west 179th street, known fort tryon. 1940s neighborhood known frankfurt-on-the-hudson, gave way, in 1990s, hudson heights.


the park s concessions building, had fallen disrepair, restored beginning in 1995 bette midler s new york restoration project (nyrp). non-profit organization awarded operation of concession in 2000, , opened new leaf café – later called new leaf restaurant , bar – next year. parks department closed building necessary roof repairs in december 2014, , nyrp announced not reopen, due length of time repairs take , increased rent charged. operation of restaurant taken on in late april 2015 coffeed, queens-based donates portion of revenue local charities.


on june 15, 2010 park celebrated 75th anniversary fundraiser , fireworks display.
