the state associations have own constitution , structure. during amateur era of malaysian football, of state fas made of small organization bigger states have active football league while smaller fas send team compete in malaya cup.
depending on size of state, state associations have district associations affiliated them. clubs directly affiliated state football association alongside district football association.
each state conducts own competitions. competitions @ state level winners have chances nominated state fas promotion malaysia fam league. there inter-district competitions such liga bolasepak rakyat.
