the american edition published samuel f. bradford, of philadelphia.(see fr:samuel f. bradford). bradford member of famous family of american printers. first volume appeared in may 1806 , last in december 1820. work extended 41 volumes of text , 6 of plates. there 1,851 subscribers recorded. initial print run set @ 2,500 copies, bradford beset financial problems, , project passed murray, draper fairman , company reduced run 2,000 copies. work sold @ $4 per half volume or $8 per volume. full bound set cost $400 in 1820.
