first british seaplane leave water, , first seaplane take off british waters, avro type d, first of 6 of type, piloted royal navy commander oliver schwann, lifts off cavendish dock, barrow-in-furness, england, briefly, falls water , damaged. lack of training betrayed him, , first take-off not followed first successful landing. avro repaired.
