the mars orbiter mission (mom), informally known mangalayaan, launched earth orbit on 5 november 2013 indian space research organisation (isro) , has entered mars orbit on 24 september 2014. india became first country enter mars orbit on first attempt. completed @ record cost of $74 million.


mom placed mars orbit on 24 september 2014 @ 8:23 am ist.


the spacecraft had launch mass of 1,337 kg (2,948 lb), 15 kg (33 lb) of 5 scientific instruments payload.
