2014 expansion ground breaking ceremony


the museum founded in june 1973 in traveling bus. in 1975 museum moved renovated building on bannock street , moved current location along south platte river in 1984. in 2015, museum made childhood education zone’s list of top 25 children’s museums in united states, coming in @ number 11.


in spring of 2014, children’s museum of denver broke ground on $16.1 million expansion. following several years of planning , 2 years of construction, expansion doubled size of museum , included 8 additional exhibits, 1 outdoor , 7 indoor. expanded museum reopened doors on november 20, 2015 children’s museum of denver @ marsico campus.
