in past interviews star said song “losing memory” inspired 2004 film release eternal sunshine of spotless mind, in recent interviews star have said song has taken on new meaning.
wasn’t film. use movies inspire ideas, colours, , emotions. call myself lazy filmmaker because write 3 minute songs , not 2 , half hour movies. inspired, sat pen , paper , wrote words. getting tired , exhausted emotionally, determined write song not me. wanted little more secular. , then, sure enough, when finished writing song, looked @ lyrics, , felt looking in mirror. real life , evident heart , soul. it’s in-tune cover artwork of 11:59, actually. -ryan star

the song added album 3 weeks before album released.
it’s kind of miracle song. it’s last minute, record being pressed. mean, we’re talking album has been in works 4 years. last minute it’s being pressed , stopped pressing. like, “stop press! wanna put song on it!” felt important me because 1 angle fresh , many things happening. i’m believer when world gives little miracles, gotta accept them , can’t turn them down. little things having time write – staying 2 nights in row, not sleeping, doing demo it. finding out l.a. finish it. these things kept saying needed song recorded , made cut off. because of fact able done, became mission song on album.
being said, it’s fun have fresh on record haven’t heard in last few years. infused breath of fresh air album. it’s exciting song. it’s unlike other tune i’ve ever done , not of songs on 11:59. think it’s important it’s there because if 11:59 blueprint rest of career , albums i’ll ever make, think it’s have touch of each thing. have me on piano alone , have rock kind of pop song, i’m excited because me made album more complete. -ryan star

song cut because had many songs. recorded 17 songs record , counting itunes deluxe version there 13 released together. honest, 2 of favorite songs didn’t make album. 1 called “orphans”, couldn’t keep 1 on without other. knew both couldn’t make it. original idea “orphans” going start off album. @ point realized needed keep them together. have vision of releasing e.p. called america. -ryan star
