there several trails in park, including pair lead waterfall (with old limestone kiln next it). trail system part of north country trail, nation longest national scenic trail runs north dakota new england. there 2 climbing/rappelling areas. both recommended equipped , experienced climbers . more difficult of 2 @ breakneck bridge.

alpha pass trail moderate 1.5 miles (2.4 km) hiking trail marked blue blazes. trail part of north country trail. section in park begins @ alpha pass scenic view. runs along east bank of slippery rock creek old mill.


hells hollow falls



hells hollow trail easy 0.5 miles (0.80 km) hiking trail begins @ hells hollow parking area , follows hell run restored lime kiln , on hells hollow falls.
kildoo trail moderate 2 miles (3.2 km) hiking trail loop. begins , ends @ mcconnells mill covered bridge , follows banks of slippery rock creek. western portion of trail marked blue blazes , part of north country trail.
slippery rock gorge trail moderate difficult trail part of north country trail in places , marked blue blazes. trail passes through several different geological areas. first portion of trail in upper end of hell run valley. trail descends slippery rock gorge , onto alluvial flood plain @ bottom of gorge. flood plain, trail ascends gorge , descends once again before following main creek bank terminus @ eckert bridge.

whitewater boating

whitewater boating popular on part of slippery rock creek , rated class ii-iii, on international scale of river difficulty, depending on water conditions. boating begins @ u.s. route 422 bridge @ rose point, outside park boundary , passes under eckert bridge within park before ending @ harris bridge. there portage @ dam @ old mill. illegal run dam. boaters required wear life jackets approved united states coast guard.

hunting permitted in of mcconnells mill state park. hunters expected follow rules , regulations of pennsylvania game commission. common game species ruffed grouse, squirrels, turkey, white-tailed deer, , rabbits. hunting of groundhogs not permitted @ park. pennsylvania fish , boat commission assures anglers have plenty of chances catch fish stocking trout , bass in waters of slippery rock creek.
