her first international competition @ 2004 world championships in les gets, france finished 46th. prior competing @ 2008 summer olympics, pendrel competed @ 2007 pan games won gold. finished 4th @ 2008 beijing olympics in cross-country event 9 seconds out of medal position. pendrel not notable rider @ time hero, teammate, , gold medal favourite marie-hélène prémont did not finish after lingering , unknown illness caused retire race.

pendrel followed olympic disappointment great result in next major multi-sport event 2014 commonwealth games in glasgow. there won gold medal in women s mountain bike event while teammate emily batty followed canadian one-two finish on podium. took second world championship title september in hafjell, norway.
at 2015 pan american games in toronto pendrel , batty again battled top podium spot 2 canadians taking lead on same course had raced in 2014 nationals competition. time silver pendrel , gold emily batty.
2016 olympic success @ last
pendrel met cycling canada s automatic selection criteria represent canada @ olympic games in rio de janeiro in 2016, , did participate part of canada s olympic team. @ mountain bike event crashed on 1 of first turns battle main chase pack, emily batty , later pull away in third position, holding bronze medal on batty. after pendrel described race saying s unbelievable. before race have been happy career if didn t have olympic medal, m sure happy do. @ beginning of race getting in crash @ start , shifting stopped working , like: going wrong. m used having bad starts, luckily, , know can work through field. had prepared every scenario. knew close gap , s set doing today. 2 weeks after games won third overall world cup title.
