the villages part of székely land region of historical transylvania province. belonged udvarhelyszék district until administrative reform of transylvania in 1876, when fell within udvarhely county in kingdom of hungary. after treaty of trianon of 1920, became part of romania , fell within odorhei county during interwar period. in 1940, second vienna award granted northern transylvania hungary , villages held hungary until 1944. after soviet occupation, romanian administration returned , commune became officially part of romania in 1947. between 1952 , 1960, commune fell within magyar autonomous region, between 1960 , 1968 mureș-magyar autonomous region.


in 1968, province abolished, , since then, commune has been part of harghita county.
