gslv-mk iii launch vehicle. capable launch 4 tonne satellites geosynchronous transfer orbit. gslv-mk iii three-stage vehicle 110 tonne core liquid propellant stage (l-110) flanked 2 200 tonne solid propellant strap-on booster motors (s-200). upper stage cryogenic propellant loading of 25 tonne (c-25). vehicle has lift-off mass of 640 tonnes , 43.43 metres tall. according isro, payload fairing has diameter of 5 metres , payload volume of 100 cubic metres. allow india become less dependent on foreign rockets heavy lifting.


on 18 december 2014, isro conducted experimental test-flight of gslv mk iii carrying crew module, used in future human space missions. suborbital test flight demonstrated performance of gslv mk iii in atmosphere.


gslv mk iii-d1 carrying communication satellite gsat-19 lifted off second launch pad @ satish dhawan space centre in sriharikota on 5 june 2017 , placed advanced communication satellite geosynchronous transfer orbit 16 minutes after takeoff. gsat-19 satellite lift-off mass of 3136 kg, communication satellite of india, configured around isro’s standard i-3k bus.
