roland simpson s last leap 6 october 2004
on 5 october 2004 during chinese national day holiday, multi-national group of base jumpers invited shanghai sports bureau leapt top of tower. next day, roland simpson leapt jin mao building, tallest skyscraper in china @ time, in wingsuit. after jump , flight, parachute opened multiple line twists making difficult steer , crashed onto adjacent building. went coma. returned australia, died injuries in canberra hospital @ 2:30pm aest on 22 october 2004. number 85 on base fatality list.
