the museum located in former deutsche bundesbahn locomotive depot @ heilbronn in böckingen district of town. depot opened in 1893 royal württemberg state railways (königlich württembergische staats-eisenbahnen or k.w.st.e.), , owned in succession deutsche reichsbahn, deutsche bundesbahn , deutsche bahn, before being taken on in 2000 museum s board of trustees. museum has 80 exhibits (wagons , locomotives). on site locomotive roundhouse working turntable, large wagon shed. steam , diesel engines can serviced , looked after.
